Stress has the ability to impact nearly every aspect of a person’s personal and professional life.  The aviation industry is subject to significant stressors, and aviation professionals are amongst the most stressed individuals across multidisciplinary career fields. Unfortunately, undermanaged stress can have dire consequences on medical, physiological and cognitive function. Thus, affecting burnout rates and increasing the likelihood of suboptimal learning, performance and safety outcomes. To mitigate the adverse effects of stress on college students and future aviation professionals, this workshop will discuss impactful and timely strategies for increasing one’s ability to self-manage their stress in more effective and sustainable ways and will serve to inform the aviation community on resources for integrating stress management education into their corporations and safety programs.
