D Smith has more than 33 years of experience in the field of aviation and occupational safety. He has assisted more than 850 organizations implement safety and human factor programs, including  U.S. and international regulators and private industry. He is considered a leading expert and forward thinker in the field of Aviation Safety and related topics. He is a rated US Army Pilot awarded the designation of Master Aviator.  He is also the President of the International Society of Safety Professional (ISSP), a Certified International Safety Manager, (CISM), Registered Certified HFACS Professional and contributing author to the book “Implementing Safety Management Systems in Aviation“, Ashgate Publishing. He holds an MBA with emphasis on Occupational Safety and Health.
