Fatigue Risk Management: Visibility and Control

Fatigue is an ever-present risk in flight operations. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) benchmarks indicate that fatigue is a factor in one in five incidents. Two essential components of an effective fatigue risk management program are visibility and control. Visibility involves being able to identify fatigue beforehand using a quantitative objective framework. Control involves being able to select valid mitigation approaches to either reduce fatigue or limit the operational risk. This presentation will demonstrate tools and approaches to establish visibility and control to effectively manage fatigue risk.
