John Cauthen
Security Director, Aviation & Maritime

John Cauthen joined MedAire as the Security Director for Aviation and Maritime in 2018. Before joining MedAire, he managed law enforcement flight operations in Arizona for the City of Mesa Police Department. Cauthen’s diverse professional experience includes 11 years of active naval officer and pilot duty. He has served on various military staffs, including NATO and the U.S. Coast Guard. He also remains an active member of the Navy Reserve, where he continues to fly helicopters with a squadron in San Diego, California.
Cauthen holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master of Arts in History from American University in Washington D.C., and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Arizona State University. Additionally, he is a graduate of the United States Naval War College, where he earned a command and staff diploma.
He is an NBAA Aviation Security Council member recognised for his passion and dedication. Throughout his career, John has garnered extensive experience in coordinating, assisting, and advising military and civilian stakeholders in organisational plans, policy, and strategy. His background as a university-level history instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy also speaks volumes about his expertise.
