Scott Proudfoot, is the Runway Safety Team Manager at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Headquarters. He has been an Air Traffic Controller since 1992. Proudfoot started his career in Richmond, VA as a Tower/Radar Controller. Proudfoot moved to Baltimore, MD in 1995 and was a controller at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport until Potomac TRACON opened. Proudfoot was amongst the first group of controllers to work at Potomac TRACON from 2003 to 2007. In 2007, Proudfoot moved to FAA Headquarters and worked for two years as an Accident Investigator in the Office of Aviation Safety. In 2009, Proudfoot helped start the FAA’s Air Traffic Safety Action Program (ATSAP) for the Air Traffic Controllers and worked on the program until 2011. In 2011, Proudfoot returned to BWI Tower as a supervisor. In 2015, Proudfoot became the Operations Manager at BWI Tower and, at times, acted as the Air Traffic Manager. In 2020, Proudfoot moved to FAA Headquarters and began working for the runway safety program and has been there since.
