Our industry is in constant evolution. Emerging regulations, new cockpit technology, communication and surveillance protocols all contribute to safer skies. Despite all these changes and improvements, there are still a number of accidents and incidents where situational awareness of the crew and even loss of control are contributing factors. What should be done to improve this? What can we learn from past events to improve situational awareness safety? How can we help pilots better prepare for these changes? This presentation seeks to raise awareness to some of the challenges faced by flight crews during live operation and provide useful tools and tips based on some of the latest human factor research and accident investigation data. It also engages participants on a reflection of the importance of elevating our own situational awareness standards.
