Safety Standdown 2024: The Path Forward

A new year is upon us. I wanted to take some time to highlight some of the successes we experienced with Safety Standdown in 2023 and outline where the program is headed in 2024.

First, I wanted to offer a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the entire Safety Standdown team, including our dedicated sponsors, for a truly outstanding year in 2023. We were truly blessed to have another amazing journey culminating in a wonderful event in September. We all experienced some truly incredible general sessions and workshops, amazing, transformative content that we could all share with our organziations. In addition, the Safety Standdown team and Advisory Council commenced its work on its new Emerging Leaders initiative with the goal of bringing like-minded young professionals together through aviation safety.

The steadfast commitment, passion and enthusiasm displayed by our Safety Standdown team is truly outstanding, and I am so grateful for the continued efforts and support of this invaluable program. It’s also quite easy to see that the aviation professionals who support Safety Standdown industry-wide are truly unique – they have a special level of commitment that helps create a safer aviation environment at every level. I am quite confident that this passion will continue throughout 2024.

The Safety Standdown team and Advisory Council will soon provide more details highlighting this year’s theme, event location, curriculum, and new opportunities for attendees to engage with the Safety Standdown program . The team will also soon open nominations for the 2024 Safety Award, honouring a worthy aviation professional who has helped transform the industry through their comprehensive safety pursuits. Please consider any deserving nominees!

Throughout the year, the Safety Standdown team will be sharing new and engaging content centered around aviation safety. We will be adding new resources to our Safety Standdown website,and will be also actively sharing important information on our social media channels. Please join the conservation and follow the “Learn Apply and Share” vision with your colleagues.

Again, I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished over the past 27 years with the unique Safety Standdown program. Thank you again for an amazing 2023 and we will continue to work hard to ensure that Safety Standdown continues to grow and develop in 2024 and beyond.
