Stuart “Kipp” Lau

Pilot, safety expert and aviation journalist Kipp Lau writes and presents about flight safety and airmanship. Safety Standdown is one of his favorite events; in the past he has facilitated several workshops and has been a past panel member in a discussion on professionalism.  

He is currently a captain at a major airline flying an Airbus. In addition to the Airbus A300, he is type rated on the Boeing 747, 747-400, 757/767, Regional Jet and Saab 340. In addition to flying, Lau serves as the FOQA Committee Chair and Accident Investigation Committee member at his airline.  

Promoting safety and flight data monitoring programs is a passion. He has volunteered on several international working groups including International Helicopter Safety Team, NBAA, Global HFDM Working Group and ICAO.   

Lau has written several hundred articles on flight safety and airmanship. He currently writes a monthly blog for Aviation International News.
