In a data-driven world, it’s critical that we listen to what our aircraft are telling us. Flight Data via Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA) gives our aircraft a voice by capturing performance measurement data that can be translated and interpreted for greater understanding by pilots and maintenance technicians. By design, FOQA interfaces seamlessly with Safety Management Systems (SMS) to enhance aviation safety and operational efficiency.

This workshop will explore the symbiotic relationship between FOQA and SMS, demonstrating how FOQA can be leveraged as a powerful tool for technicians to improve maintenance reliability and tracking, and for pilots to understand and improve the human-technology interface in the cockpit. Participants will also learn the essentials of setting up a FOQA program, from consideration of hardware and software components, to learning best practices within an SMS framework.
